Europeana aggregators

Aggregators work with cultural heritage institutions to gather authentic, trustworthy and robust data and make it accessible through Europeana. All Europeana aggregators are members of the Europeana Aggregators' Forum (EAF), a network of national, regional, domain and thematic aggregators who - among others - work to exchange the knowledge and best practice that supports aggregation and data sharing with Europeana.

Domain & thematic

Domain and thematic aggregators define their scope by cultural sector (such as museum, archive or library) or by topic and theme (such as fashion). They work with contributors based in different European countries.

National & regional

National and regional aggregators define their scope by specific country or region. They work with contributors situated within that country or region.

Steering Group

The Steering Group of the Europeana Aggregators’ Forum is made up of elected representatives from accredited aggregators and one representative of the Europeana Foundation.

Outreach

The Europeana Aggregators’ Forum organises regular events to show cultural heritage institutions how they can engage with and share their data with Europeana. Explore past and upcoming events.

How we’re improving the quality of the material in Europeana Collections

Created: 20 September 2019

There are tens of millions of items on Europeana Collections but we know that not all of them are easy to find or easy to use and that can be frustrating. So we’re working hard to improve that.

How easy an item is to find or to use depends in part on the types and quality of the information we have about it. This post looks at how Europeana is supporting cultural heritage institutions to improve the digital files (content) and the accompanying information (metadata) that they provide for both new and existing collections.

How material gets from galleries, libraries, archives and museums into Europeana Collections

Created: 12 September 2019

Since January 2015, Europeana has been one of the European Union’s Digital Service Infrastructures (DSI). In this series, we will look at some of the Europeana DSI activities, giving you a greater understanding of the endeavours and challenges we’re working on right now. We start with the cultural heritage itself. It’s what Europeana is all about.
