Iași, Romania, (April 17-18) - Europeana brought together politicians, policymakers and professionals from across Europe, under the umbrella of the Romanian EU Presidency, to explore the next horizon of infrastructure needed to support digital cultural heritage.
Finland is under the spotlight this year as it plays host to the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Today, we look at how Finnish cultural heritage institutions are opening up new heritage experiences for their audiences by getting involved in the Europeana Europe at Work season.

Making Europeana Collections more multilingual is a priority and so we were delighted to take part in an event on 24-25 October with the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and cultural heritage institutions on the topic of multilingualism. The two-day event at the Hanaholmen Culture Centre, Espoo, Finland, titled ‘Multilingualism in Digital Cultural Heritage - needs, expectations and ways forward’ was carried out under the umbrella of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which is currently being hosted by Finland.

During the Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Europeana held a meeting with high-level policymakers and experts in multilingualism to discuss the challenges and opportunities of multilingualism in digital cultural heritage. This report summarises the key outcomes of the meeting including the benefits, challenges and solutions identified.
Two complementary digital conferences organised by Europeana and the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek are supporting cultural heritage institutions in their digital transformations, by focussing on the importance of building capacity and skills to do with copyright. The conferences are organised as part of Germany's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, putting cultural heritage in the spotlight for Europe's policymakers.
