As we enter the second year of the common European data space for cultural heritage, the Europeana Foundation is excited to grasp the opportunities that the data space offers, and to ensure that it thrives to the benefit of professionals and citizens across Europe.
In the spirit of a fresh start in the new year, Harry Verwayen, General Director of the Europeana Foundation, Marie-Véronique Leroi, Chair of the Europeana Aggregators’ Forum and Rob Davies, Chair of the Europeana Network Association, share a new year message on behalf of the Europeana Initiative.

CRAFTED aimed to support the transfer of European crafts to future generations by aggregating, enriching and promoting tangible crafts heritage and preserving intangible skills and knowledge from craftspeople and artisans.
This project aimed to improve the quality and quantity of open metadata associated with imagery from European cultural heritage, in particular addressing the challenges of endowing AI with insights into culture, symbols and traditions.
