In our ‘Professionals in Focus’ series, we speak to Europeana Network Association Members Councillors about their roles, working lives and plans for their time on the Members Council. This month, Alexandra Angeletaki discusses her work at the Norwegian University of Sciences and Technology and perspectives as an archaeologist.
As part of Europeana’s Europe at Work season, the Hunt Museum, Limerick, Ireland, and partners have been exploring the role of the Shannon Hydro-Electric Scheme. The team involved in engaging audiences onsite and online during COVID-19 discuss their approach and the importance of sharing stories of Europe’s industrial heritage.
Towards the end of 2020, OpenGLAM and the Europeana Copyright and Communicators communities organised two translation sprints to make key guidelines and articles about the public domain available to more people in their native languages. We look back on the sprints and share the translations.
Providing seamless access to collections in multiple languages has been a key objective for Europeana since its inception. In this post, we give an update on recent strategic developments at Europeana on this topic and introduce a new issue of EuropeanaTech Insight dedicated to multilingualism in digital cultural heritage.

With the 1st of January each year marking Public Domain Day, this month on Europeana Pro we are exploring the public domain and open access to cultural heritage. In this post, members of the Europeana Network Association Communicators and Copyright communities share some of their favourite public domain works available on the Europeana website.
