Kyriaki Balta
I was born in Thessaloniki where I live and work. In 1995 I graduated from the Department of Librarianship of the Technological Educational Institution of Thessaloniki and in 1996 I got my Diploma in Access to Information from the Royal Academy of Librarianship in Copenhagen.
In 2005, I received my Master's degree from the Hellenic Open University with specialization in Educational Studies and in 2023 I received my PhD from the Department of Applied Informatics of the University of Macedonia with research field “The use of new technologies by Greek academic libraries in the design of digital tools and digital information services”
From March 1996 until September 1999, I worked at the Department Librarianship of the Technological Educational Institution of Thessaloniki as a laboratory assistant teaching mainly courses related to the organization, management and access to information. Since January 1997 I have been working at the Library of the University of Macedonia as a librarian where since 2013 I hold the position of admin librarian for the Institutional Repository and the Digital Library of the University of Macedonia.
My research interest include subjects such as digital collections creation and development, metadata, material digitization, digitization policies for different kinds of organizations, digitization technologies.
