Ben has a degree in Philosophy and Artificial Intelligence from Sussex University. Ben joined Cogapp in 1987, and became technical director in time to help establish the new direction of the company towards the web and multimedia. He has work extensively on creating digital and online collections - including for the National Gallerty and National Portrait Gallery in London, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, and the Metropolitan Museum, MoMA and Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. He also works with archives, including at the Yiddish Book Centre, the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, and The National Archives (UK).

Ben's work on these and other projects displays his continued commitment to finding new ways for organisations to exploit digital technology to better serve their public audiences. His current focus is on helping archives to enrich their offerings through combinations of human and machine intelligence.
