Italian Songbooks and Sheet Music from the First World War period
This digital collection of circa 339 songbooks and sheet music from the WW1 period has been made available courtesy of the Central National Library of Florence, as part of the Europeana Collections 1914-1918 Project.
The collection brings together musical compositions by several famous Italian musicians such as Gastaldon, Stanislao and Cecco Beppe.
Explore military marching songs, war hymns, folk songs as well as salon songs for solo voice and piano, choral works and operas.
You can also find educational songs and songs for the children´s choir. Included in the collection are unpublished verses by Giosuè Carducci, an Italian poet and writer who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1906.
