The Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market entered into force in June 2019. It creates many new opportunities for the cultural heritage sector, and Europeana was part of the discussions to ensure that would be the case. The ball is now in the member states’ court: the Directive needs to be implemented by June 2021. We tell you about the road ahead and how Europeana can support you along the way.
Europeana is one of the European Union’s Digital Service Infrastructures (DSI). The EU has several of them, others include safer internet for children, electronic health services, and business management. Here, you can find out about the activities and challenges we're working on right now as a Digital Service Infrastructure for culture as well as some of our achievements from the last year.
As part of our annual event we make it a point to recognise those whose contribution to the Europeana movement sometimes goes under the radar. There is no praise comparable to that of your peers, so in 2019 we are again asking you to nominate your unsung heroes who have gone above and beyond expectations for the cause of Europeana and digital transformation of cultural heritage.
