The evolution of cultural participation. Embracing digital trends and cultural participation and production

This session from Europeana 2021 explores the impact which cultural heritage institutions’ focus on digital and digitalisation has had on digital users.

About

This session - organised by inDICEs, a Horizon2020 project which aims to investigate the impact of cultural heritage digitisation - explores state-of-the-art digital trends related to cultural participation and their social impact. Relying on the first analysis carried out by the project, it looks at aspects of digital co-production in open platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Wikipedia and TikTok, highlighting the risks and opportunities of cultural participation in online environments.

The session offers ideas and recommendations about how you could approach participation in digital programs within your institution.
