Let’s Impact! - Digital storytelling and gaming towards a sustainable future

This session from Europeana 2021 explores how digital storytelling can be used to engage audiences with sustainability.

IFLA (the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutes) Library Map of the World (LMW) provides a unique digital space for libraries to share the stories that demonstrate their contribution to achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Meanwhile, ‘Utrecht 2040’ is a game that introduces students of the Utrecht University to sustainability and the goals while they create ‘the best possible Utrecht in 2040’ in a funny and engaging way.

Both of these initiatives tell a great story, something which is essential to raising awareness, changing attitudes and engaging audiences. This workshop looks at these initiatives to highlight and share tips around good practices for telling stories online, drawing on the recommendations of the Europeana Communicators Community Digital Storytelling Task Force.
