We empower the cultural heritage sector in its digital transformation. We develop expertise, tools and policies to embrace digital change and encourage partnerships that foster innovation. We make it easier for people to use cultural heritage for education, research, creation and recreation. Our work contributes to an open, knowledgeable and creative society.

Training our image classification model

Created: 2 June 2021

Previously, we introduced you to the Europeana Foundation’s image classification pilot, for which we had selected a target vocabulary and gathered a dataset to train a model to classify images from digitised cultural heritage. In this post, we analyse the results of the training, identify some challenges with our current approach, and propose future lines of work!

We form projects and partnerships around new ideas and technologies that encourage audiences to engage with their cultural heritage.
