Paul Gerhardt has worked in education and broadcasting, and with moving image archives. He is the director of the independent consultancy Archives for Creativity and supports public and artistic access to film and sound collections.
John Akomfrah is a film director Creative Artist, Cultural Activist and Practitioner and is known principally as one of the founders of Black British Cinema - and latterly as a trailblazer for British digital cinematography. His projects have received over thirty-five international film awards as well as a string of Honours and Life Time Achievement Awards. In January 2008 John was awarded Order Of British Empire (OBE) in recognition for his "contribution to the Film Industry ". He has just been awarded the joint European Cultural Foundation Laureate in Brussels in March 2012.
