First World War field trip
Europeana, with the kind support of the Belgian Department of Foreign Affairs, is offering the opportunity to take part in a First World War related field trip, alongside the Europeana Plenary 2012.
Participants will visit Ypres and the surrounding areas, scenes of some of the biggest battles in the First World War. A special highlight will be The Last Post ceremony, the traditional final salute to the fallen, played by the buglers in honour of the memory of the soldiers of the former British Empire and its allies, who died in the Ypres Salient during the First World War.
In addition, participants will be able to visit the newly improved In Flanders Fields Museum which now provides a richer experience alongside new facilities, including. a special WW1 knowledge centre.
