Hackathon @ EuropeanaTech conference 3-5 October 2011, Vienna, Austria

EuropeanaTech was the final conference of the EU project EuropeanaConnect and was organised in collaboration with the Europeana Foundation. It explored the technical challenges of making digital cultural and scientific information attractive and easily accessible for the public.

A two day hackathon completed the EuropeanaTech conference generating prototypes and code contributions to Europeana services.

Interesting facts
  • Largest female representation at a hackathon till that time (also, all 3 women in the winning team)
  • Awards: in addition to the prize vouchers, participants of all winning teams were invited to a special " innovation incubator" workshop organised by Europeana and eConnect project. The two day workshop took place on 27 and 28 Oct in Amsterdam and supported the developers in developing their idea to a working product. The workshop paid special attention on business plan creation and graphic design/interaction.
