Imagine you could take a photo of any painting and get the description of the painting is a matter of seconds! And what if you could translate the description to any of the EU languages? Timebook is an aggregator of information coming from DBPedia, Wikiquote and Europeana concerning personalities of the past (in particular composers, painters, writers or artists in general). It formats the information in the form of a Facebook-like profile in a social network of artists by looking at the influences in each other's works. Applications of the system could be found in education, promotion and exploration of digital libraries. -

Description
Building on an analysis of user behaviour this prototype suggest a user with searches related to their intitial query. However, rather than presenting those suggestions as text links it mashes up with Dbpedia and Freebase to identify persons, topics and places and displays those as thumbnails, The user can then click on these thumbnails to navigate further into the Europeana content.Prototype:

The Wikiana prototype combines Wikipedia with the data available in Europeana. The user can copy the URL of their favourite (or any other) Wikipedia page and it will automatically be augmented with images taken from Europeana, that match the page content. This allows the user to discover the data in Europeana using an interface and a context that they are likely to be more familiar with.Prototype:
